Heather Oleson and her?dressage partner Escorial a 14 year old German Westphalian warmblood horse, have been invited to compete in the 2012 US Equestrian Federation (USEF) Festival of Champions Intermediaire I Division/Championship this June 13-17, 2012 in Gladstone, NJ.? This honor is extended only to the top horse/rider teams in the country who have earned qualifying scores by competing in international level dressage shows this past year.? Heather and Escorial will be competing against seasoned Olympic veterans including Steffen Peters and Guenter Seidel. The results from the Grand Prix division at this competition will determine the horse and rider combinations who will represent USA at the Olympic Games in London, England this summer.
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Heather Oleson is a professional dressage trainer and instructor currently based at Once Upon a Horse in Eagle, Idaho. ?Heather has been an ODS member since 1992. ?She offers dressage training, lessons, and clinics from beginner to FEI (international level). She works with her long-time trainer, Ernst Herrmann, at Once Upon A Horse and continues her education with notable clinicians throughout the country. Heather has been training her 17 hh, chestnut gelding, Escorial (or ?Monkey?, as he as known at the barn) in dressage since she purchased him as a 4 year old at an auction in Germany. She has traveled regularly these past few years with Escorial and her other FEI level horses to California to compete in CDI (international level) dressage shows.
Heather is currently making arrangements to travel and get settled in Gladstone, NJ for the competition which include driving from Idaho to California where she will join up with another ODS member who is also traveling to New Jersey to compete and their horses will fly together. This is an exceptional acheivement and entire community is thrilled to be represented by Heather and Escorial at this prestigious national competition.
