Google Voice Updated To Ice Cream Sandwich
Getting more talkative?
Some more good news for Android fans, particularly for those using Google Voice, as the app gets upgraded to the latest version of Google's operating system for mobile devices.
The Mountain View company brings voicemail integration to the app. This means that users will be able to listen to their voicemail from the call log, without needing to switch between apps.
The users will also have the possibility to slow down or speed up the message playback, which is particularly convenient for long messages. And this is not all, as the users can now fast-forward through a long voicemail to skip the boring or too predictable parts and jump exactly to the piece of information that interests them. ?
To make the app even more practical, the users also have access to text transcripts. The app has a revamped user interface designed to deliver an enhanced experience. The users will first notice the new menu bar located at the bottom of the screen.
Google Voice with the new features is available for download from Google Play. Following the download, the users just need to click on "Voicemail display" which is located under the settings tab.

SUMMARY
The Vice President is the leader in charge of a specified sub-region of the operating region. The Vice President shall assist and direct the property Investment Managers in successfully attaining the company's operational and financial goals while reinforcing the company's customer service culture.
Reporting Relationship
The Vice President will report to the Regional Vice President.
The Vice President will assist and direct the property Investment Managers and Regional Training Specialist.
The Vice President shall cooperate and assist with the other Regional Vice Presidents within the Central Region.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Vice President will use diligence and make best efforts in executing the following responsibilities:
Communicates with the Investment Managers constantly in discussing marketing, occupancy, budget conformance, personnel, capital improvements and any other material topics.
Communicates regularly with clients to ensure customer satisfaction with company's services.
Complies with all policies and procedures established by AMS for the administration of the properties and the company.
Complies with the Federal Wage and Hour Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Workmen's Compensation Act, and all applicable state and local statutes and regulations.
Maintains and posts all licenses, permits, notices, and occupancy permits required by federal, state, and local governmental authorities.
Establishes a methodical filing system for business correspondence, property information and personnel administration.
Attends and participates in industry association meetings and seminars to keep up-to-date on trends and changing conditions in the marketplace.
Cooperates in the completion of any other tasks which may be requested by the Regional Vice President.
Participates in the marketing of the company on a local and regional level as needed to promote business growth.
- Maintains a detailed knowledge of the primary market.
Constantly seeks to identify strategies for increasing company income and reducing company expenses.
Prepares a proposed annual budget of income, expenses and capital improvement for submission to the Regional Vice President for approval (as part of the Annual Business Plan).
Administers the approved annual budget of income and expenses in accordance with all AMS requirements. Monitors the status of the operating budget and determines necessary reductions or increases in allocations. Pays particular attention to expense ratios as determined by the company.
Obtains written approval from the Regional Vice President for all proposed expenditures in excess of the threshold established in the annual plan.
Prepares monthly income and expense variance statements with collateral supporting documentation. Submits the required reports to the Regional Vice President on an accurate and timely basis and in a format which meets the company's specific requirements.
- Reviews all delinquent accounts and pursues any action required.
Annually reviews all contractual services and re-bids appropriate services to assure the lowest possible cost.
Assumes overall responsibility for overseeing the day to day management of all clients' managed assets under the supervision of the sub-region.
Implements action plans and strategies for maximizing property performance.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Vice President manages Investment Managers who manage investment property staffs. The Vice President carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform all essential functions satisfactorily. The requirements define the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform the essential functions. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERENCES
An undergraduate degree with a major in a related field preferred.
A minimum of five years in portfolio operations consisting of 50,000 units or more preferred and experience in positions with progressively increased responsibility from property manager through multi-property management.
Sound understanding of real estate operations as it relates to management of individual assets, brokerage, office operations, personnel management, corporate budgeting and planning.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
The following designations are preferred: CPM, CSM, RPA.

Biomarkers for autism discovered
ScienceDaily (Mar. 23, 2012) ? An important step towards developing a rapid, inexpensive diagnostic method for autism has been take by Uppsala University, among other universities. Through advanced mass spectrometry the researchers managed to capture promising biomarkers from a tiny blood sample.
The study has just been published in the journal Nature Translational Psychiatry.
There are no acknowledged biomarkers for autism today. Researchers at Berzelii Centre and the Science for Life Laboratory in Uppsala who, in collaboration with colleagues at Linnaeus University in Sweden and the Faculty of Medicine in Tehran, Iran, who have discovered some promising biomarkers.
Many diseases are caused by protein alterations inside and outside the body's cells. By studying protein patterns in tissue and body fluids, these alterations can be mapped to provide important information about underlying causes of disease. Sometimes protein patterns can also be used as biomarkers to enable diagnosis or as a prognosticating tool to monitor the development of a disease. In the current study disruptions of the nervous system were in focus when the scientists studied protein patterns in autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
To identify potential biomarkers (peptides or proteins), the researchers performed a detailed protein analysis of blood plasma from children with ASD compared with a control group. Using advanced mass spectrometric methods, they succeeded in identifying peptides consisting of fragments of a protein whose natural function is in the immune system, the complement factor C3 protein.
-The study is based on blood samples from a relatively limited group of children, but the results indicate the potential of our methodological strategy. There is already a known connection between this protein and ASD, which further reinforces the findings, says Jonas Bergquist, professor of analytical chemistry and neurochemistry at the Department of Chemistry -- BMC (Biomedical Centre) in Uppsala.
The hope is that this new set of biomarkers ultimately will lead to a reliable blood-based diagnostic tool.

HBT: Howard sheds boot, is cleared for workouts
Ryan Howard took a big step in his recovery from a torn Achilles? tendon today, as doctors cleared him to stop wearing a protective boot and start working out.
Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Howard?s first post-boot workout involved fielding ground balls at first base while sitting on a stool, so he?s obviously still nowhere near being game ready at this point.
Howard?s timetable was pushed back because of an infection months after the surgery, leading to speculation that he?ll miss all of April and most of May at the very least. Jimmy Rollins even expressed some doubt about the slugging first baseman playing at all this season, but barring more setbacks June seems like a reasonable target date.
