Maybe you haven't spoken to your ex in awhile, but you may be checking on their Facebook page, especially as Valentine's Day rolls around. A new survey finds that one third of singles admit to looking up the status of an ex to see if he or she has plans for the Big Romantic (and made-up by card sellers, florists and jewelers) Day.
The survey, by AreYouInterested.com, which makes a dating app used on Facebook and on mobile phones, surveyed 515 singles (54.4 percent were men, 45.7 percent women) on its Facebook fan page this week. Other results included these:
- 43 percent of singles could see using a mobile dating app to find a date on Valentine's Day itself, with one person saying: "I like living on the edge!" according to AreYouInterested.com. (That person should read: "Red flags for online dating.")
- About a third "expect to end up in bed on Valentine's Day." Would that be because of a cold or because of a (sexual) fever?
- 74 percent said a first date on Valentine's Day is a "good idea." But no pressure; might as well take the MCAT, too.
- 58 percent believe "the man should be the one to pay for Valentine's Day dinner." Said one person: "?It's part of the romance. You always have to make a good woman feel special!"(Hint: A good woman will not mind paying, as long as it isn't excessively.)
- And, about 67 percent said if they were in a relationship that was on the rocks, they'd end it before Valentine's Day, rather than after. But, said one person: "End it ? but after the gifts are given." We'll try to get you that person's name ? so you can avoid dating them.
